Warped Tour is no more, at least for Canada. Unfortunately for many Canadians the metal festival won’t be making it this year. It was finally confirmed on the 18th of December when the official changes to Vans Warped Tour were announced. There were no Canadian dates and no chance of revision.

Now before metal fans across Canada sharpen their guitars into make shift pitch forks and start rioting there are plenty of alternatives out there.

So if you weren’t aware by the title of this article this is the part where a list of alternatives to Warp Tour begins. Now we all know that nothing can truly compare to Warp Tour, but these next metal festivals listed are solid events to attend if you can’t make it over the boarder.

If you happen to be in the Vancouver area this April, or don’t mind a commute there, The Modified Ghost Festival will be at Biltmore, Vogue, Rickshaw and Astoria from April 7-10th. Among the announced bands the list included Suffocation, Cattle Decapitation and The Dillinger Escape Plan,” and that’s only to name a few. April 7th

The Modified Ghost Festival will begin at The Biltmore for a $20 entrance fee. The only real issue is the event is restricted to ages 19 and up. The price of admission is $45 at the Vogue for all ages on the 8th. Ghost Festival will be found at the Rickshaw on the 9th with a 40 dollar cover fee and the last day will be held at the Astoria for $18. The Tickets are still available but going fast. For more details you can find the events official site here: http://www.modifiedghostfestival.com/

Another big festival that often goes unseen is Amnesia Rockfest. The festival is celebrating it’s 11th year this June and is packed with in their own words “an insane lineup.” The Rockfest itself will be in Montreal Quebec this year, specifically 111, Laurier Street Montebello from June 23rd – 26th. The actual lineup has yet to be fully announced but Cannibal Corpse, NOFX Punk in Drublic, and Bring me the Horizon are rumored to be signed up.

What is often a big selling point to many is that the music festival also has the camping experience attached to it. The whole idea is that metal heads can live sleep and wake in a music festival for three days. In a sense Amnesia Rockfest creates a very real, all be it short lived, heavy metal village.

Early Bird ticket prices start for $157 for the entire three day event. As of right now are still available. The official site can be found here: http://www.amnesiarockfest.com/en/

This may be the end of this update but we will continue to bring more alternatives in the coming weeks.
